ARIXMAR's Senior Vice President of Cyber Security, Mr. EJ Hilbert, was interviewed by Wall Street Journal concerning the recent Sony PlayStation network intrusion. The incident perpetrated by an “unauthorized individual” left approximately 77 million users personal information, including credit card numbers, birthdates, physical and e-mail addresses exposed. Sony suggests users change their passwords and be aware of phishing scams to collect more personal or financial information.

During his interview with WSJ, Mr. Hilbert stated that “those impacted by this breach is approximately 1/5 of all Facebook users. Cardholders should not only be concerned about their credit cards but need to change their passwords and security questions for all social media accounts.” The hackers may not be after credit card information but instead access to social media accounts, as Mr. Hilbert stated that “One credit card equals $500” and access to “your social media contacts equals $5000.”
